Recipe: CHAI TEA

Everybody’s favourite! You can say a lot about Yogi Bhajan, but his chai recipe is one of the best, if not the best.

Chai Tea is good for the blood, colon, nervous system, and bones. It helps to fight colds, flu, and physical weakness.

CHAI TEA

Ingredients

20min.

Makes two big or three small cups

  • 630ml Water

  • 4 slices of fresh ginger (ca. 3cm long each piece)

  • 6 cloves

  • 8 green cardamon pods, cracked

  • 8 black peppercorns

  • 1 stick of fresh cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp of loose black tea or a tea bag of black tea

  • honey, agave or rice syrup (optional)

  • 250ml milk of your choice

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil and add the spices

  2. Cover and continue boiling for 10-15 minutes on a low fire

  3. Remove from heat, add black tea, and let it steep for 30sec to 1min.

  4. Sweeten according to your taste

  5. Add the milk of your choice, bring to boil again and remove from the heat.

  6. Strain and enjoy

My personal favourite version of this chai is prepared with loose Assam black tea, oat milk

and sweetened with Agave syrup. It is yummy and vegan as well.

If your smile is only half as happy after the first cup as the one of the girl who made me a really tasty chai in Pushkar you own the day. ;)
